not trying to scare of discourage anyone, reason for posting mainly for storing/sharing information to come back to or to help someone going through same problem. Alot of ppl all over the world visit the site.

Anyhow, this is how bad my intake manifold is broken, this is from another galant owner who is on his 3rd intake. This is a common problem among 8th Gen Galants with the 4G64 engine
Image
Its made of steel so I've JB welded (expoxy)it for the time being, I heard that the 03 Outlander also have 4G64 engines in them with a different intake which fits and is slightly bigger.

The expoxy works ok... for the time being but there seem to be another crack I can't see and is causing the car to idle like crap. I use a water hose running low pressure, and just slightly pass it over the manifold and can hear it trying to suck water.. (sounds like water falling on hot Iron). Don't Have time to repair it right now, but I'm looking into the outlander angle for a long-term solution.

NO 4G63 for me, thank you been there no thanks.. If the EVO 8 Head can go on the 4G64 Block that would look neat blow the bloody tranny... that's the grocery getter/baby-mobil so needs to be stock and reliable!...

BTW the intake is made of thin steel, bout the thickness of the walls of a can of soup or evaporated milk.

the 4G63 Head will bolt onto the 4G64 but will require a work around for the cam gears. (Ie thats how a lot of 2.4 and 2.3 L strokers are made).

The 64 has a forged crank and rods. You can fit the newer evo heads on the older 4G63 also.
