local misunderstanding

Post by skidmarx »

guys, do you sometimes notice that people around us have a somewhat negative eye for motor sports? say for example, when enthusiasts like ourselves share our passion for the sport people tend to liken us to our worst enemies out there. RICERS!!!!!!

See the thing is i was in a discussion with someone else who had that misunderstanding about what we are up. he concluded that we discuss dangerous things like speeding and reckless driving, well i had to enlighten him and show him clearly that we aren't about these things, that we promote safety and the majority of our discussions are the technical aspects of an automobile, not how many cars we can overtake and how many times we crash and made it out alive or how many accidents we caused and got away. no! we share a common passion for motor sports with safety in view.

so for the other really annoying part, ricers, they have set a very bad trend here, with reckless driving, and other life threatening practices. hence causing the average driver or others in the wide public to liken them to us. clearly, we have seen that people dont really know the difference between a ricer and a motorsports enthusiast. since all they see is a man with a "sporty looking" car which ofcourse is a rolling traffic light - with all them bling bling lights on em and rice parts.

Gentlemen, the differentiation has to be made, i have experienced this misunderstanding many times and have had to put up a real strong fight to make people understand that we are not what they think we are.

Thank you

Comments welcome.

skid- your words man have more truth to this story imagine that last year when i was in the hospital i spoke with a minister in government (we will leave out his name for now) and i told him that real guys who love there sports cars in D/ca real dont like racing on the local roads and we want the government to try to get interested in motor sports tourism and that the race track or drag trip idea that had come up during the election days was a good idea and that they should really think about it [beff]

the man told me and i QUOTE // so you can go and kill your selves?! // that's when i realize dem man are clueless to what we really want to do ! makes me think that we all should organize and try to get together with them and show them that its not about killing our selves but the love of the sport and or hobby; show them how the other island are using motor sports as a way to make tourism (in d/ca) more popular if you guys know what i mean [buddy] what you guys think??

boi dem man jus have a mental block towards trying new things you know they jus afraid of change. that is why Dominica has remained backwards. But I still love Dominica man. But ppl must not be afraid to try new things. Dominica has nothing to lose. a racing course or whatever won't do any damage. They rather fellas who ignorant to jus go and kill themselves on the road than go to somewhere safe and enclosed. They like the simple solutions like putting speed bumps. Anyway ya dat what i think

Speed bumps encourage rallying which is even more dangerous than circuit racing if you ask me. Yeah the soarer can't fly over a speed bump but a WRX and an EVO can.
