Hi,

I was the driver in the video but I am not the owner. He was driving the Discovery...

The speedo has been converted to readout in MPH rather than KPH. I feel that it under reads a bit.

The whole towing thing was scary to begin with but I got used to the speed after a couple of miles. It was trying to keep the rope tight that was difficult without the break booster working.

What was really scary was hitting the wire pole at over 30 mph. It like being a crash test dummy...and it hurt. I bit my tongue, fortunately not badly, got chafe marks on the side of my neck from the left strap and had a sore and stiff neck for a couple of days.

Sorry about that Scuby man, i feel your pain.

The wire came from the light pole we ran into, the cable came down when the pole got knocked over about 4' at the top. I thought the wire had caught in the steering but the steering locked when I went around the last corner.

Whats strange is we dont really know why the steering locked. It appeared to be in the accessory position and the steering doesnt seem to lock until you take out the key.

That damn rope didnt break until we had hit the pole!!

The horn was working but I all I could see was that damn pole up ahead and I pretty much freaked! My son actually had the presence of mind to hit the horn...the Discovery had the windows up and the air con on. I guess he pretty much forgot we were back there...

I liken it to falling down a cliff...

I had my foot hard on the brake but the car was not slowing down and I was just along for the ride. The total feeling of helplessness was the worst part.

Gotta say it hurt too. At least you ok my boy.

NB Changing the speedo from KmPH to MPH doesn't change the speed reading correctly. You have to change the speed sensor on the tranny too.

The steering got locked, hello. maybe the owner should have quickly turned around and pull the car the other way.

That happened so fast, the only way out i can think off was pop the e-brake, but you cpu has to be really fast to process all that data.
