Yeah, they checked out alright.. I just have to wait for him to send me the cam journal caps... Here is a picture of one of the cams after i cleaned it up a bit:

I just took off the head a few minutes ago, here are some pictures:

Anyone know why it's like this? Is it blowby or something more serious? I also noticed that my intake manifold runners are very dark too...

that seems like alot of soot or oil residue in the combustion chamber.. Intake valves dirty exhaust valves clean. did you experience excessive blowby or smoke out the exhaust or if u have a catch can. could be caused by broken rings. ring lands or scored bore. also bad valve seals guides. try opening the valves and sneaking a peek.

Thanks,
I didn't notice any smoke on startup or anytime during driving.. I'm not running a catch can and I think the pcv is vented to the atmosphere (for now). I really really hope it's just a valve issue.. The new cylinder head I got should fix the problem.. I'll open up the old one tomorrow and check it out..

So here is a long list of updates I haven't posted..

Lets see..
I brought the new cylinder head to the machine shop, had new valve guides installed, 5 angle valve job, surfaced, and cam buckets shimmed..

Then I bought the block to the machine shop. Had it hot tanked, honed, surfaced, painted, new freeze plugs installed, new piston rings matched up, piston skirts coated, crank polished, and everything blue printed.. They also put the pistons, rods, and crank in for free :D Started up first time... I had to spend a lot more timing fixing various leaks though...

Image

Got everything back installed and getting ready to add the 1000cc injectors.. (ignore the duct tape lol.. and yes it's still there.. :$ )

Image

Installed those, then temporarily added a Z32 maf with 3" piping.. I couldn't tune it properly so I ended up removing it.. I think it's broken..

Image

Took some pics of how it sites with z32 rear wheels in the front and back..

Image

On my way home I had an electrical issue with the alternator..

I ended up wiring some plug backwards which killed 2 alternators.. I bought another engine for $100 and used the alternator from it.. Some guy is picking it up today for $350..

Made a new positive wire for the alternator using some 2 gauge wire.

Image

Now I started on some LED front turn signals.. They are going to be half white/half amber.. The white will be the park lights and amber will be the turn signal.. (the white LEDs are the larger ones with the yellow inside)

Image

Almost done wiring it up..

I think this is all for now.. I'll start taking more pictures and updating this more often..

Here are some plans though:
New intercooler piping and downpipe
Get it tuned
