There are indeed 2 Ferrari’s on the Island, one is for show and tell and the other is for the demonstration on Sunday 26th, from 10am until 12 noon. The car will not be driven up and down relentlessly for 2 hours, it will do short loops from Warrens Roundabout to Automotive Art Welches, with hopefully a few odd donuts inbetween. The Driver is Marc Gene, Ferarri’s current test driver I believe (?) Woggy can confirm his employment role. The Ferrari team is going to be using Shell Warrens as their pit area, however the ENTIRE section described will be fenced off to keep the general public separated from the course and from the cars. Ferrari are very, very, very adamant that if one breach of the fence occurs they will bring the car to a stop, put it on a wrecker and carry it away – demonstration DUN. Please, tell everyone you know who might be interested in going to see these cars, and tell everyone who is standing in earshot at the event, that if the fence is breached the event WILL be stopped immediately. Let the fear of being beaten by 10,000 fans dictate to the small minority that they should not attempt to climb or push over the fence.
Tell everyone about it, this is a once in a lifetime experience for many Bajans who have never seen, and will probably never see, an F1 car in full live glory – especially not a Ferrari revving to 19,000 rpm. There will be designated parking areas to the West of Shell Warrens (grassy field on left going up the hill away from the roundabout) and on the vacant lot opposite Automotive Art which abounds the highway between Welches and Millenium heights. Access to the Warrens lot will be from Cave Hill direction, access to Millenium Heights lot will be via Automotive Art Welches direction. Access through the Simpson Motors entrance will be restricted to VIP passes, so if you have intentions of parking anywhere in the area around H&B or First Caribbean you will need to know that once the road is closed at 10:00am you will be unable to leave until 12:00 noon.
THE ROAD WILL BE CLOSED AT 10:00 AM SHARP – be in position well before that if you want to see anything. There are 8,000 running feet of viewing space, so even at 3 people deep there will be enough room for everyone to see something. Even if that something is only a model in a Ferrari shirt…
they are supposed to be there on the 26th of November
