First Evo X in the Bronx

Post by Smokey »

One of my boys traded in his 9 for the new X last week. This is the first one that I saw in person (because I refuse to go to the dealer just to look at a car) and I have mixed reactions. First off the X is BIG inside and out. He got the ugly rallr red fully loaded with the aero package, sound system and navigation. The car sits very high and with those huge fender wells, you could easily fit some 20" rims on the car like the X prototype. I got a chance to drive it and feel it out. Like I stated the interior is much more spacious than the previous model and the seats are low to the floor. All the new controls are nice but I don't like the feel of the new steering wheel. It feels more like plastic than leather. My overall opinion that is that the X is a semi-luxury sports sedan with all the extras like cruise control now. It is no way shape or form a race car or desinged for racing in mind. It is fast out of the box but I doubt ti will be shattering any quater mile or time attack records any time soon.

Your opinions on the performance are backed up too...the X is somewhat slower than the fastest versions of the 9

Depends on the test..the X is a faster car on a tight course than the 9 and previous versions. it has a lower straightline speed

Well yea it is faster on tight turns, but for the amount of technology in the car I think they should have put more effort into making it a much more focused track car that outperforms its predecessor period. Those that want more luxury-sport feelings can go to the regular Lancer.

Just my $0.02. But it's good that someone we kno actually got their hands on one to feel it out.

I agree damian, newer isn't always better. Focus has changed. I predict same kind of reviews from would be owners of the Skyline GTR.Well at least from those wwho have driven a skyline GTR b4.

I think both the Subby and the Evo failed with their newest versions. Hopefully, they improve on them in the coming year or two. I also think that entering the US market has softened these cars alot.

I dunno...that bitch is pretty quick, even if it IS the car doing all the work.

newer cars are nice but they cost a pretty penny to repair, I'm working on this infiniti, and the owner messed up her key, piece of it is broken (not the business end, but the key ring end) The car turns over but won't start for nothing. No spark. NATFS malfunction. car doesn't recognize the key.
