Like so many great things, this project car was born out of necessity. Goldwin Phillips, aka Tintman, salvaged a Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo and willed it back to drivability…but not without suffering the mechanical anguish of a less-than-pristine automatic transmission. After many tried and failed attempts to get it reliably on the road, he did what all true drivers wish they could…rip out that auto box and drop in the manual transmission – this one from a Lancer Evolution. And he did it during a nation-wide lockdown. With his bare hands. Mostly.
This documentary was filmed after the COVID-19 safety protocol curfew was relaxed, and all precautions were taken to minimize risk to all involved with the production.
