local misunderstanding

guys, do you sometimes notice that people around us have a somewhat negative eye for motor sports? say for example, when enthusiasts like ourselves share our passion for the sport people tend to liken us to our worst enemies out there. RICERS!!!!!!
See the thing is i was in a discussion with someone else who had that misunderstanding about what we are up. he concluded that we discuss dangerous things like speeding and reckless driving, well i had to enlighten him and show him clearly that we aren't about these things, that we promote safety and the majority of our discussions are the technical aspects of an automobile, not how many cars we can overtake and how many times we crash and made it out alive or how many accidents we caused and got away. no! we share a common passion for motor sports with safety in view.
so for the other really annoying part, ricers, they have set a very bad trend here, with reckless driving, and other life threatening practices. hence causing the average driver or others in the wide public to liken them to us. clearly, we have seen that people dont really know the difference between a ricer and a motorsports enthusiast. since all they see is a man with a "sporty looking" car which ofcourse is a rolling traffic light - with all them bling bling lights on em and rice parts.
Gentlemen, the differentiation has to be made, i have experienced this misunderstanding many times and have had to put up a real strong fight to make people understand that we are not what they think we are.
Thank you
