2008 WRX spy pics

Long-lensman Chris Doane has clocked the first known photos of the 2008 Subaru WRX.
Prevailing logic has had the WRX abandoning its trunk lid for a hatch, and this five-door test mule (the first known) lends credence to that idea. Drawing cues from Subaru’s B5 concept, the new WRX appears set to drop some of its controversial aesthetics in favor of a more traditional five-door shape that’s decidedly Mazda3-esque.

According to Brenda Priddy & Company, the car may drop the Impreza moniker, but we don’t expect the company to walk away from the now iconic WRX designation.
Priddy also expects a massively updated 2.5-liter turbo boxer under the scooped hood, good for somewhere in the neighborhood of 330 horsepower.
