Project Delilia

Project "Delilia"
Ultimate Goal: Restore Car to Stock Condition, mechanically and looks (1jz + Manual![[angel]](./images/smilies/angel.gif "Angel")
) before I leave to study (Hope I leave to Study soon)
Reasons:
#1. Budget
#2. The car has had many different things going on throughout its life.
#3. Fairly powerful car when stock, me being a rookie driver.. Just keeping it Real.
#4. If any mods in the future (far future.) its always good to know your building on a sound foundation.
#5. I love the stock supra look as far as bumpers, side skirts, spoiler etc. goes.
Initiial Parts List:
#1. Engine + Trani
#2. Wind Screen (present one is cracked)
#3. Rear springs (present ones cut.. and was cut way to short.)
#4. Stock front bumper
#5. Hood/Bonnet (ribs in present one was cut to put hood scopes.. as a result the bonnet started to sink in various area's... lil bit of perfectionist when it comes to body work)
#6. Front shocks (to my surprise the stock Toyota shocks are tokico.. waw.. lol didn't know that)
#7. Rims (ones the car came with showed some fine welding skills of our guys in Dominica)
other parts that would follow would be more to the tune of the cosmetics of the car, there are many different things i didn't like, for instants the spray job on the weather stripping, spraying over the rubber for the targa top. I will definitely try replacing this minor things.
Present Accomplishments:
* stripping down going very well, so far no signs of rust... for a 18 year old car thats amazing to me. Have seen many old cars stripped down and restored in my day thanks to my father.
* Inspecting the drive shaft, looks a little too short.. confirmed by my supervisor (father). I am not surprised as i understood the car has passed though many engines.
Over all everything seems to be moving along nicely, was slightly disappointed to find an excessive build up of mud & that sticky ting on d road.. forgot.. under the front fender... due to the previous owner running it without the guards..

Reasons for stripping:
It makes for a better finished look when the parts are sprayed separately and then put back together. Rather that that spray over everything and paints cracks later philosophy.
& basically to grease down the inside panels, look for early rust sports (as i intend to have this car for a while... maybe a street legal 10 Sec car one day.), and also inspect the body for stress points/cracks... the things that won't help in making a vintage sports car really fast and SAFE.![[stretcher]](./images/smilies/stretcher.gif "stretcher")
