Ok back to project response.

We just decided to finally get the engine out for the rebuild process on saturday.

With a few healthy tugs and the removal of the left side mount brackets the engine was out without a hitch. New bottom end is at PapaSmurf's house but the engine room still being cleaned.

CEE GET THE PAINT.

Well unfortunately, Saturday i didn't have the cam with me

Phat-i decided it was time to crack the engine open to see what we are working with.

This car really gonna take a lot of nurturing to get back on the road. As we mentioned early, this car was a victim of greedy mechanics. As soon as i got the bottom pan off...i noticed the oil looked a bit....well grainy...it had a real rough texture to it. After phat-i and Smurf got the crank out you could clearly see the damage this had done to the bearings. So thats that for this crank, we will be inspecting a spare crank over the weekend . New main, and rod bearings will definitely have to be put in. Some of the bolts have shown their age and will definitely have to be replaced.

Now onto the head. Despite the sand the mechanic threw in the bottom pan, the Oil in the head was completely different. But one of the things i noticed was how restrictive the TVIS butterflies were to making power. So plans of scrapping it are definitely on the plate.

this weekend i will definitely take pics and give a better explanation of what we finding etc.

yeah the 5S crank will fit, but we have a replacement 3S-GE...The 5S crank doesn't seem to hold up as well as the 3S-GE. plus it with give us an uneven Rod/Stroke ratio which will sacrifice revs.

Besides..the GE and GTE block and crank are the same minus the oil squirters

might i add that the bearings were new and the car had not been driven since they been placed in. only started and got worn down right away..
