the oil squirters can be stuck open, which will lower the oil pressure in the engine. Rod knock is common in a lot of engines, but some engines are just more prone to rod knock e.g 7M-GTE,
In my case of rod knock, I was running 14psi + due to leaky wastegate, my oil level was 3/4 at the end of a usual oil change, I've seen cars get away with much less, toyota engines, I used to punish the tercel with 1/4 on the dipstick, no oil change for like 12000miles... Some engines can take abuse some just can't, maintainance aside. Go on any DSM site cries and complaints will take up most of the forum, I work on cars for a living and I can tell u I am NEVER going back down that road. Eclipse/talon is for people who like to spend money fixing things, buying alternators, fixing leaks, etc.. I am also good with AWD transverse engine cars. Good with none JDM vehicles too, just not worth the trouble, the pain and suffering. Nothing I hate more than an oil leak!!!!!!
