Thanks man, that is some useful information, Megasquirt cost 189-250.00 depends on the version. It has the bells and whistles, new features being added every now and then.. I think the hardest part is trying to stay on top all of them.
There is a switch under the gas pedal, I'll use that to turn off the compressor under hard acceleration, although I could use one of the outputs... But I'd prefer try to do it simpler.
The stock intake manifold is going to be removed and upgraded, so I have to find some new location for the idle valve. It is ecu and manually adjusted... Remote mount it somewhere else.
I chose Megasquirt because I am troublesome... I like to build shit, plus it is easy to tune. 12x12 tables however unlike those EMS with up to 32x32 tables it eliminates the need to have cells with same figures (interpolate) You pick the key points in the map (12x12) ms does the rest combined with Megalog Viewer which is like ur own personal tuner, it analyzes the map and suggest changes by checking ur datalogs. Also has a Hp,torque calculator built in (not 100% accurate, but from what I've seen it is very reasonable in its estimates).

I believe that for turbo applications it is probably better to remove the butterfly valves, its not the easiest thing to remove from what I have read but if you are using a completely different manifold without the butterfly valves then don't even bother with it. Less restriction anyway and certainly less head ache.
I wish the Megasquirt was available when I was doing my engine swap, that was about four years ago and comprehensive searches on-line only turned up all of the basic stand alone ECU's of which the Link from New Zealand was the most reasonable and there was a dealer in Trinidad so the shipping was much cheaper. It took months for me to get it though...

Re: KA24DE-T
No mods unfortunately.
The original NA20 engine died with two cracked center cylinder liners (no idea why that happened). When I went looking for a Z24 engine which is what typically comes in the Nissan D22 twin cab, I couldn't find one for love or money.
So some smart ass tells me to get an engine out of Miami as they are dirt cheap, well I was going to Tampa so thought what the hell I will look for one up there (Z24). Well they haven't seen a Z24 since about 1986 as it was carburetted only. What they had tons of was the KA24 which I knew nothing about but it was reasonably cheap so I bought one. I had a template of the bell housing and knew it would bolt up to the gearbox. Well when I finally got it to St. Lucia I quickly realized that nothing else fit...
It took me months to get new engine brackets and mounts, modifications to the crankshaft pulley, convert the low pressure fuel pump in the tank to a high pressure, new fuel lines, install new wiring harness, air intake system, throttle cable relocation with brackets, etc.
All in all it was considerably more work than I was expecting and a hell of a lot more money. I think all up it cost me about $7,000 EC for the completed swap. It does work very well but the tuning from scratch was a steep learning process. I learn't a hell of a lot in the process though.

That's good, good to hear your experience, at least you gained something from the experience. You're now running efi pickup with ems, you should consider turboing it, whooping ass on caka beff!

Re: KA24DE-T
Alright finally found time to work on my car. I did the transmission swap in one day, on my own pretty much.. a hand here and there. When work is hard friends are few***
Few pics taken, cause I got faustrated by the fucking tranny not wanting to go in muscled with the exhaust system which gave me a lil leverage..
Clutch master and pedal installed, very dirty..works fine

the only way it's going to spool at 4500 rpm is if u are spraying like 50 shots.smokeyonline wrote:DcaTSiAWD wrote: 1. hp goals
2. .82 a/r though it is big, spooled fully at about 4000rpm
I don't think that T70 will spool at 4k. When I had the T67 on my car, full boost was at 5500 rpm. The smaller GT35R that I have now spools at 4500 rpm. I understand you want big hp, but it's no fun if you can't use it on the street.

Re: KA24DE-T
We will see fellas, if it spool later than 4500rpm, still aint mad. However the other option would be a 63/hot side which would be easily swapped on. Once again this is not a t4 hotside so spool characteristics are going to be a lil better than a T4 housing on a T67. I am not too worried about that. I didn't want a turbo that's spooling when I trying to bust a cruise 3500rpm ...........NISSAN LOVES GAS stock! much less at 21psi
