Last time i went antigua there were stands...cause thats where i sat watching.

Grenada, St Lucia, Trinidad, Jamaica all used abandoned airport or navy bases.

Bdos doesn't have a drag strip yet, but rallying started in abandoned canefields and still take place in abandoned canefields.

Dominica...well we aint so lucky

I agree...the best and surest way to start is basic. nothing thats gonna cost too much money when started can't complete due to insufficient funding. Investors will easier commit to a new project if they don't initially have to invest too much money. They looking at reality - where is the sport level presently is in da. If you can convince potential investor for a small investment and make them see the wider picture of growth potential, you have a greater chance of them donating/sponsoring or investing an initial amount.
I think it can work with the right ppl heading it. Remmeber it's gonna be a business so is not anybody that can be on the committee to run it. We must have business oriented(business ppl interted in motosports) and ofcousre we need serious car enthusiast mainly as technical advisors. Lets not rush into that without first considering ppl field of expertise and think because some of us love cars we can handle it. We ned trust-worthy people; people with business record and sense to head this. We don't wanna do this like a NIMA example ....- to which I still have questions and doubts as to what happened. [quiet] Although i was v.p but i am very transparent and honest

main objective would be to draw up a plan for a simple structure, 1/4mile and run off, thats it. How much money is it going to take to get the piece of land (maybe fre from government), getting it surveyed, having plan drawn up, land cleared, levelled etc etc

1) you know what would be cheaper letting the gov't give us the canefield airport. Automatically consider it a GOV'T PROJECT" the money raised 50% goes to them. other 50 maintenance & upkeep.

rough calculation two days a week,
20 cars @40 day pass
200 spec @15 day pass

3800 a day
7600 a week

30,400 mnth. {50%} $15,200

do they even use that airstrip?

how many planes land there a day?
how many land in melvinhall a day?

wouldn't it be cheaper if the gov't where to redirect all flights to one port?

2) ask them to sell it to us?

on a gov't based loan we pay them on a monthly basis

Dglobe... i see you want somthing to happen but the Airport is a NO.NO until and/or if it closes. It's next to impossible to get that venue. and your # 2 option... unless you can get someone to come up with about $5.m or so i doh think buying is an option. That $35g's a month there is only about 5-7 of the top ppl salary there so u can see the loss for gov't
