KA-T70
" that's about it, not much diversity there."

that because there not much money!! some have it some dont but we all want the same thing "GO FAST"

its getting to the point where you take what you get and make it fast! and even then.. THAT takes time! some of us cant just run around the corner ,buy performance parts for what ever you tryin' to make go fast and run back and slap it on like you KA-T70 <<waiting is the BIG thing in D/ca lol>>

I dont think that's true today nah. It's only because we sticking to what we know. There are lots of other inexpensive sports cars with plenty potential, even on a budget. We just have to do the research.

there are 2 S14 and one S13 Silvias in d/ca
Alot of chasers, Crestas, Mark IIs in d/ca
Corollas, Starlets, Civics, Integras, Celicas, Skylines, and the list just goes on and on.

All of these cars are worthwhile platforms to build from with a lot of potential parts available as well as swaps.

exactly my point. Skidmarx was one of those that was goin for something different for a project car (where is he these days, anyway).

If I wanted to have a real special project I could have looked for those silvias here and research enough to build it to my taste. As I was starting my business I needed something more ready to go...and I STILL ended up with a fairly unique ride in DA.

And Japan is not the only place to get good project cars overseas. There are sources in the US and even in the Caribbean which will save you on shipping.

They out there...is just to look for them

Not always...sometimes shipping from the states more expensive. and some cars are more expensive over there.

and in some caribbean countries buying from them would cost you and arm and a leg more because quite a few countries have higher duties than us

That is a lot of 'some's anyway...the point is to look around instead of just going for what's easy. You can have an outstanding and unique project car at the end for the same money

IN RELATION TO THE VAT & TAX BRO TRUST ME FROM 1ST HAND EXPERIENCE THIS SUMMER IT IS A KILLER. THE GOV'T NEED TO DO SOME THING ELSE FOR INCOME AND CUT DOWN THE VAT BOY SHIT. IMAGINE WE GOT A SO CALLED DUTY FREE FOR A RIDE WE BROUGHT DOWN AND STILL ENDED UP PAYING ABOUT A 30G'S TO CLEAR THAT OFF THE PORT IN TAXES AND VAT. SHIPPING FROM JAP (6GS). THE VAT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I WOULD CONSIDER AS AN INCENTIVE TO COME HOME AND DO ANY THING DOWN THERE.

IN RELATION TO RIDES FROM USA IS TRUE U CAN GET SOME CHEAP RIDES UP HERE, ALSO CHEAP TO SHIP FROM FLORIDA THOUGH. YET THE FACT THAT YOU GONNA GET A LEFT HAND DRIVE SO DOES NOT GO DOWN TO WELL WITH ME FOR D/CA. "UNLESS WE ARE TALKING Z06, PORSCHE, SRT10, VIPER ECT, SOMETHING THAT STANDS OUT". YET IN COMPARISON TO THE RIDES,MILES, MODEL, YEAR, YOU GET A WAY BETTER DEAL IN JAPAN. BUT AS SAID SHIPPING HMM FAIR BUT VAT IS A [wallbash] KILLER.
