Let me ask a question in here -
Re Valve Floatation,
To correct valve float a spring with a higher tension rating should be used.
I would just liek to know what are the consequencies of running springs that are way above the tension rate for an engine.
For example an EVO Engine..?
and how would valve float be detected - ihave heard about loss of power above 5000 Rpm ( may differ for other engines )

this video pretty much sums it up. But the higher the spring rate the more rotational friction you introduce to the system. that's why F1 and some bikes use spring less or pneumatic systems.
Yeah some of the attributes can be attested to a loss of power as the valves sometimes fail to close. In an interference engine this could be a lot worse than a simple loss of power. The springs themselves could become unseated which would even further complicate matters

i also remember that Ducati Bikes used a system where the camshafts are directly connected to the valves.
These bike engines are high reviin anyway
