Re: will there b a new king?
can you please motion sickness point out a built motor (4g63) that ran 10s consistantly on a afc? i am here to learn so dont get mad at me.....Your guess is as good as mine. I only mention 10sec cars. I was never specific.
Guess tuning= I like to do my own ting. Guess tuning ideally would be tuning by seat of pants. just turning knobs, just seeing what feels right, not very scientific or mathematical method.
Again is one set alone that can drive and tune not true?....Never said that either. Simply said the guy can drive and he knows his shit......why should there be an issue with that....its my personal opinion.
It doesn't take into consideration the ram effect of air flowing at 100mph plus.........WRONG!......Thats why they have that high speed fan(s) at the front of the car running during dyno sessions. Also, road and weather coniditons do change frequently on a road tune.
similar results can be obtained with wideband (LM-1),programmable ems, skill, and a few other tuning aids......similar, but not as accurate. That translates to varying amounts of HP and torque lost, or at worst an engine.
Ultimately, these cars belong to you guys do what you want with them. Me personally, if I have a choice I would put my car on a dyno. Thats what works for many succesful tuners. If it didn't then all of them would be on the road doing 3rd gear pulls.

This very much implies that guys in DA do not know about tuning.

I'd have to disagree with you there as the reason it is done on a dyno is that
a> Its more convenient and comfortable
b> Doing it on the road you might get pulled over by the cops
c> Track time is expensive
d> No traffic to worry about
I could be wrong this is just an opinion.

Sounds logic to me.
Nothing beats a run down Castle Bruce, you log the data, upload to tuner using your cell and laptop, then by the time you get back home a new tune has arrived.
Man I have wanted to drive back to Castle Bruce at 3:00am because of that. Next time I will arrange the time better.
That is the best tune, done on the road and real time response from your tuner, this is reality. Once there are no cops, no speed bumps and a$$ holes and pot holes on the road.

Hey, like I said everyone has there way of doing things. Do whatever feels right for you...its your car.

No its not....... because you have to work with a schedule unless the dyno is yours or you buy out the day. Also, you can run on an empty street in the early hours of the morning. Track time is way cheaper.......20usd and you can run all night vs 100-150usd per/hr for dyno time. In some cases you still have to pay the tuner.
This very much implies that guys in DA do not know about tuning.........Tuning is not just adding parts. Its more about having these parts work well together. Ex: PB140...fast buy DA standards...had alot of hardware....but the car never lived up to it full potential. I'm almost sure that car could have done alot better than 12.1....again with proper tuning. So to answer your implication sir......I believe there are a small handful of guys who know what they are about.....the rest are magazine racers.

Re: will there b a new king?
I know an high 8 second car, that has never seen a dyno.... does that mean it is not tuned properly? I don't necessarily think you need to have ur car dyno tuned. One of my close friends is a very successful builder and his car runs 5sec 1/8th mile times. None or Very few tuners can tell you the exact amount of adjustment is needed in a fuel or ignition maps. It is basically trial and error even on a dyno.. You apply a new setting you do 2-3 consecutive runs, and make comparison. Vehicle tuning is not an exact science. That's why most cars have conservative tunes even from factory to compensate for those fluctuations in external factors such as wear, weather, climate, temps and seasonal variations.
Once again a dyno is basically a controlled environment in which the road is simulated, which gives u the benefit of not having to turn, deal with traction losses, etc etc.
Please read Grassroots Motorsports The Hardcore Sports Car Magazine- "Volume 23 Nov 7 06" It outlines the processes involved in proper dyno tuning tips from a drivers perspective...
Dyno tune has its advantages, but it doesn't mean you're gonna kick ass..
