Yeah I have to agree with Sci about "Caribbean Drag Wars" yet only Trinidad, Grenada and St. Vincent were invited.
However there are good reasons why that was the case.
Yes the Trini's helped run the event both times but the second time they were more involved in the promotion whereas the first event in December it was totally promoted by Neil Beepat a St. Lucian Window manufacturer who is a drag race enthusiast. So for the Feb event the Trini's had more say.
Also they used two St. Vincent car ferries to transport all of the vehicles. Everyone paid their own way, transportation was wholly covered by the car owners not the promoters. The cost of getting cars from Antigua and Dominica would have been prohibitive in the fairly short period of time that was available.
As an example: The cost of getting my car to Grenada from St. Lucia to take part in the Grenada event in May will be $2,000.00 if 10 people commit to going. The ship cost is $20,000 dollars so do the math! I don't think that there will be 10 people here that will commit so I will probably not be going as a result because I certainly won't pay $4,000 if only five people commit.
The cost of getting a Ferry from St. Vincent to go up to Antigua, stopping off at Dominica would probably be at least $35,000.00 if not more. How much should you as Dominican's pay compared to the Antiguan's etc.? The logistics are pretty daunting.
So unless you could say guarantee 10 cars from Dominica and 15 from Antigua I don't see a cheap way of getting the cars down here. And we all know the difficulties involved in Containerized shipping, I've been there and done that and I don't ever want to do it again!
The next event here in St. Lucia will be in October. Start figuring out how to get your cars here and I can guarantee you that you will receive an invitation....
